That even each places have their own specialty of the desserts. Comes with that specialty is the secret recipe that goes with it.
Cassava Bibingka- Mainly made of Cassava a woody shrub that grows in the in most region. This dish is popular during Christmas Season, it is usually sold outside the church, and after the traditional “Simbang Gabi” crave for Bibingka and Puto Bongbong.
Ginataan a Filipino term which means “done with Coconut” is one of the no off season sweets that the Filipino love. Its common ingredients are taro, sweet potato, purple yam and tapioca with different colors.
Champorado- A typical Filipino morning is made up of Pan de sal and Coffee and the dish that not only craved by kids but also by the kids at heart is Champorado, a chocolate cereal made up of rice and cocoa. Who can resist the smell of it on mornings?
Turon or Banana Lumpia is a Ripe Banana covered with Lumpia Wrapper and bathe with brown sugar and fried deep in a hot cooking oil. “Turon” is a common word you will hear in a typical Filipino streets during afternoon for it is sold house to house by a common “Manang” that every kid is waiting.
Kutsinta or brown rice cake is a type of “kakanin” that uses lye water as an ingredient. somewhat sticky yet chewey at the same time and is best eaten with grated coconut on top.
